One of the bravest moves you can make is advocating for your health; and health moves well beyond the body. Too often and for too long, we forget to tend to our emotional and mental wellbeing, which can lead to unspoken and powerful concerns. Our greatest misconception when we suffer, is that we are alone and hopeless. In therapy, we find coping and positive healing through discovery. I would like to assist you in this, the bravest of journeys.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with four years of experience in a mental health. I trained and graduated from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a speciality in anxiety and PTSD. I recently completed my Masters in Business Administration for Souther Illinois University, Carbondale. I work with a variety of mental health concerns in an individual and comforting setting. I practice analytical psychology as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I wish to bring you a judgment-free and compassionate setting. In CBT, I offer a structured environment to locate patterns of thoughts, feeling, and actions that can consume us in negative and harmful ways. In analysis, we seek deeper meaning to the symbols and activities throughout daily life to unearth which may cause us emotional pain. I specialize in general anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobia, and PTSD/ASDat a pace and level with your comfort and safety in mind. Other focuses include depression, bipolar disorder, and stress due to life events and crises.
While serving in the United States Air Force, I completed several undergraduate internship experiences with posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and mindfulness for pain management. I found a unique opportunity to learn how trauma is formed and how to guide clients to cope and find a new inner focus that can ultimately make us stronger than ever before. One of the most powerful, hidden secrets of trauma, is the great capacity for positive change on the journey to finding a new and more courageous self. No matter the approach or difficulty we face, I tailor all work towards the client. Once inside the door, my setting is free of stigma, bias and discrimination.
As a therapist, I believe my own health and positivity is vital to help achieve a client’s goals. When not in the office, I can typically be found at the stable, riding English saddle jumpers, or on the streets of Champaign County training for 5k and marathon running. I believe a holistic approach of body, mind and spirit brings health and harmony to those who seek it. Between one to three times per week, I am updating my site regarding mental health, trauma, stigma, and damaged worldview. I work with UI-7 and WCIA - CBS, Central Illinois, during morning news coverage to discuss mental health issues.
If you have reached this sentence and worry still stiffens you, remember that you are not alone, and you are not hopeless. Reach out and we can help you the find the guidance you need, and more importantly; that you deserve.
