As Your Therapist:
If you’ve ever been to therapy, you might have noticed that there are different types of therapists. Those who sit there and nod, and those who truly play an active role in your treatment. I know that your time and money are valuable, which is why I’m an active participant who is there to help you resolve the issues that have brought you to therapy. We will work together to meet your goals, and if something else comes up along the way, we’ll work on that too. If you just want someone to talk to about your daily struggles, I’m here for that as well. Therapy should be about you and what you want to get out of it. It is important to understand that you’ll get what you put into it. If you’re motivated for change, you will be much more successful in making it happen.
If you’re a parent looking for a therapist for your child or teenager, know that I will meet them on their level. Sometimes it’s difficult to break through their barriers, but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve! It can be scary when your child is having a rough time, and you just want to know that they will be all right. We will all work together, while also respecting your child’s privacy, to help them become their normal happy selves again.
Choosing a therapist is hard, and it is important to me that you feel comfortable and are getting what you need. If you don’t think I am the right therapist for you or don’t like my approach, don’t give up! Talk to me and I might be able to adjust my therapy style or refer you to someone who is perfect for you. Therapy is always about you.
I primarily work with children, pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults.

Like most therapists, I have an eclectic style, which means I am going to work with you or your child to decide what you’re looking to get out of therapy, and how you want to get it. Every person is different, which means I can’t use the same therapy style on everyone. It just wouldn’t work. Some of the most common therapies I might use are:

• Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
• Person-Centered Therapy

• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois
• National Certified Counselor (NCC)
• Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This is a therapy approach, which uses eye movements or tapping (rather than talking) to help your brain process unresolved traumatic memories. Often people only think of trauma as a serious distressing event, but there can be all types of traumas that stick with us our whole lives and we don’t even know it.
