Renee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Ph. D. in Counseling Psychology from Saint Louis University. She is also a Certified School Counselor with a Master of Counseling degree from the University of Alaska-Anchorage. After developing a school-based family counseling program in the Albuquerque Public Schools, in New Mexico, Renee worked as an academic advisor, director, consultant, therapist, and counselor in the schools, churches, community organizations, and in private practice for more than twenty-two years in Alaska, Florida, Missouri, New Mexico, Oregon, Virginia, Illinois, and most recently in Wisconsin.
As A Therapist....
Renee has studied with many marriage and family therapists, using strategic and solution-focused models of therapy. Renee works with individuals and families who experience typical family problems, marital discord, separation/divorce, step-parenting issues, school-related issues, addictions, abuse and trauma. She is trained in couples/marital therapy and divorce therapy. Renee also specializes in working with individuals living with depression and anxiety. Renee's therapy style is best described as honest and strategic in helping clients discover the root of their problem and coming up with solutions that fit their specific problem.
Using Structural and Strategic Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, Renee has a wide range of interventions she uses with familes, couples, and individuals. Renee uses a Faith-Based Model of counseling based on spiritual principals for those clients who are in need of spiritual counseling. Honoring clients and their unique spiritual paths, she uses strategies and interventions in counseling that are uniquely designed for each client.
Renee is also trained in the Gottman method for couples counseling. Using many unique interventions, Renee helps couples to identify problem areas and apply solutions to enhance the relationship.
As A Consultant....
Renee's passion is designing consultative models for counseling based on the needs of the organization. She works with schools, churches, and organizations to set up the type of counseling they may need. Setting up a school-based family counseling model for the Albuquerque Public School District, she continues to consult with the district and offers many types or workshops and trainings in the counseling field. Renee offers supervision and training models that teach interns and other therapists strategies, techniques and skills for therapy. Renee is trained as a conflict mediator, consultant and trainer for the Aggression Replacement Therapy Model, Parent Empowerment Model, and Success For All Students Program. She continues to conduct support groups and trainings in many different school districts. As a School Counselor, Renee works with students and familes at the elementary, middle school, high school, and college levels to achieve academic, personal, and social success. Academic counseling continues to be an interest for Renee as she offers presentations and workshops for advising students at all levels.

Renee advises high school students and college students in choosing the best academic program for them. She is well-versed in various high school and college programs and will offer guidance and counseling to students and their parents for any type of academic and career needs.
